It's showtime – The world's best motocross riders are ready to go in Frauenfeld

Looking forward to the MXGP of Switzerland this weekend in Frauenfeld-Gachnang

The 2026 Motocross World Championship will hold its third round of the season this weekend, on Saturday, March 28, and Sunday, March 29, in Frauenfeld-Gachnang. Preparations for this year’s MXGP of Switzerland powered by IXS were once again extensive, elaborate, and time-consuming. With the first gate about to drop, the work is largely complete, so the action can begin.

A warm welcome to all fans at the 2026 MXGP of Switzerland

At the opening press conference for this year’s MXGP of Switzerland powered by IXS, which will once again take place this coming Saturday and Sunday (March 28 and 29) at the historic Schollenholz Race Track in Frauenfeld-Gachnang, the host’s organizing committee chairman, Willy Läderach, began by stating: “We’ve once again put a lot of time into the preparations, have made everything as perfect as possible, and have spared no expense or effort. We want to offer our fans the best possible event and are looking forward to a great motorsports weekend.”

As Läderach went on to explain, 450 volunteers will be on duty this weekend to ensure that everything runs as smoothly as possible. “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to them. I would also like to thank our sponsors for making this possible once again, as well as the regulatory authorities. I speak on behalf of the entire organizing committee and the MRSV Frauenfeld.”

Willy Läderach is a bit concerned about the forecast of low temperatures. “But true motocross fans are tough, and I’m sure the world’s best motocross riders will get the crowd fired up with their riding skills and racing action.”

Great program both on and off the track

The action kicks off on Saturday with practice sessions for all classes starting at 7:40 a.m. The two European Championship classes, EMX250 and EMX125, which are part of the supporting program, will be followed by the two World Championship categories, MX2 and MXGP, starting at 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., respectively.

The track, including the pit area, has been prepared

But Saturday isn’t just for practice; it’s a combined practice and race day, so a visit is definitely worth it. Starting at 3:00 p.m., the riders will switch to race mode. First, the EMX125 class will contest the first of two races of the weekend, followed by the EMX250 class starting at 3:45 p.m. The first qualifying race for the weekend’s first World Championship points, as well as the starting grids for Sunday, is reserved for the MX2 class. This race starts at 4:35 p.m. At 5:25 p.m., the day concludes with the MXGP, the premier class of the World Championship series.

On Friday, the action was still limited to the practice track

However, that only marks the end of the on-track action for the day. For all partygoers, the real fun kicks off at 5:30 p.m. In the festival tent next to the track, the Riedberg Party Band and DJ Urs will create a lively, festive atmosphere and keep spirits high. Admission is free for MXGP ticket holders; for everyone else, it costs 20 CHF.

Racing and more on Sunday, too

On Sunday, the EMX125 will once again kick off the day’s racing at 9:40 a.m. After that, the two World Championship classes will take to the track for their warm-up sessions. Following the second EMX250 race starting at 11:30 a.m. and a brief lunch break—perfect for strolling through the extensive exhibitor area—the MX2 and MXGP classes will contest their first heats starting at 1:15 p.m. and 2:15 p.m., respectively. The second heats, each lasting 30 minutes plus 2 laps, will follow at 4:10 p.m. and 5:10 p.m., respectively. These races will determine the day’s winners and the Grand Prix champions of the 2026 MXGP of Switzerland.
